PIGNELL — At the Jan. 29 work meeting, staff (S7) presented an updated general-plan map showing a proposed commercial designation along Highway 24 that would be folded into the zoning appendix if approved.
Staff member (S7) explained the purple shading on the map denotes proposed commercial areas and councilors examined specific parcels near "Katie's house" to see whether the new designation would affect them. "The yellow is what's present, and the purple is what we're proposing," S7 said while pointing to the map. Several councilors asked whether the clinic and nearby properties were already zoned commercial; the chair (S2) and other members confirmed some parcels are already commercial while adjacent small sections would change only if property owners pursued rezones.
Councilors scheduled a formal vote on the map amendment for the next meeting, asking staff to clarify which parcels would change and to add map labels so residents could clearly see proposed changes before the vote.
