The Hollis Historic District Commission voted to approve Classic Signs’ application (HDC2026-017) to install two tenant name panels on the existing directory monument at 2 Plus 4 Main Street.
Paul Tripp, who identified himself as the owner of Classic Signs, told the commission he prepared additional drawings to show where the tenant panels would be placed on the existing signs. “I’m the owner of Classic Signs and we’re here to simply add a tenant name to the directory panels that are already there,” he said, and showed a sample black panel and a panel with gold lettering that he said matched the current construction.
The Chair said the proposal appeared to comply with the commission’s size ordinance and that the colors looked appropriate: “I believe it fits into the size ordinance that we have for this sign,” and “Colors look appropriate.” One commissioner briefly noted a visual concern, saying, “I think there’s too much.”
Following the brief review, a motion to approve the application was made and seconded. The commission recorded four “Aye” votes and the Chair concluded the application was approved. Afterward, the Chair asked staff to include the applicant’s materials in the official record.
Votes at a glance: • HDC2026-017 — Classic Signs, application to add two tenant panels at 2 Plus 4 Main Street: motion approved; recorded vote: four Aye votes. • Minutes (June 4 and June 24) — motion to table approval to next meeting: motion approved; recorded Aye votes. • Adjournment — motion approved.
The commission’s action permits Classic Signs to add the two tenant panels to the existing directory monument as presented. The meeting record shows the applicant provided samples and supplemental drawings for insertion into the file; staff was directed to add those materials. The commission tabled approval of minutes from June 4 and June 24 to the next regular meeting and then adjourned.
