Williams Township OKs two Highland Grant resolutions; chair abstains on both

At its Nov. 13 meeting the Williams Township Board of Supervisors considered presentations from the Land Preservation Board and Heritage Conservancy on two properties under review.
Matt Babbitt of Heritage Conservancy told the board the county currently is not in a position to disperse preservation funds and suggested an option to apply for federal funds; he requested board authorization to prepare grant applications for the two properties. After discussion the board approved Resolution 2024-19 (2145 & 2155 Morgan Hill Road) and Resolution 2024-20 (1075 Morvale Road). Both motions were made by Supervisor Michael Bryant and seconded by Vice Chair Raymond Abert; each resolution passed 2-1 with Chair George Washburn recording an abstention.
Board members did not record objections in the transcript text beyond the abstentions; the resolutions authorize pursuing grant funding rather than committing final funds. Heritage Conservancy indicated it would prepare federal grant applications due in coming months; county preservation funds are not available at present.
