Campton selectmen authorize police server, approve tax abatement and property repurchase; remove Article 17 from warrant

The Town of Campton Board of Selectmen met Jan. 20, 2026, and voted on a series of routine municipal matters, including the purchase of a new server for the Police Department, a tax abatement and the repurchase sale of a tax-deeded property.
Chair Sharon Davis opened the meeting at 3:30 p.m. and the Board voted unanimously to go into non-public session under RSA 91-A:3, II (a) at 3:30 p.m.; the public session reconvened at 5:14 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
Town Administrator Charlie Smith provided updates on the Beebe River and a sinkhole on Pond Road; the Board recorded no questions on department reports for Police, Fire or Recreation.
On committee matters, Selectman Mort Donahue reported on the Roads Committee. Selectman Sherrill Howard summarized recent activity by the Conservation Commission and the Climate Advisory Committee. Selectman Sharon Davis said the Community Power Committee will meet Wednesday and reminded the Board of required training on Feb. 12, 2026; the Board will not be required to attend training on Feb. 18, 2026.
Selectman Karl Kelly raised concerns about the town's recent road-project list and expressed support for discontinuing Chandler Road. Kelly moved to remove Article 17 from the draft warrant; Selectman Sherrill Howard seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The Board approved a consent agenda as revised after Chair Davis requested amending the Jan. 5, 2025 public minutes to note that the Board would look into installing a plexiglass barrier in the Selectmen's Office. Selectman Howard moved to approve the consent agenda as revised; Selectman Donahue seconded and the motion was unanimously approved.
In separate votes, the Board approved a prorated abatement of $1,180.88 for Melissa and Brian Barboza (27 Condo Rd., Unit 2) after a motion by Selectman Donahue, seconded by Selectman Howard. The Board also voted to sell a previously tax-deeded parcel on "Isaax Fox Drive" (tax map 15, lot 13/4) back to James and Kimberly Kalweit for $14,502.02 on a motion by Selectman Howard, seconded by Selectman Donahue; the sale was unanimously approved. (The transcript spells the street name "Isaax Fox Drive.")
Town Administrator Charlie Smith told the Board that the Police Department server replacement would cost more than originally estimated. Selectman Howard moved to authorize purchase of a new server from Lakes Region Computer for a total of $12,899.99; Selectman Donahue seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The agenda item for Knollwood Energy was postponed pending additional information. No public comments were recorded during privilege of the floor.
The Board concluded the meeting with a series of unanimous procedural votes and adjourned at 5:48 p.m. The Community Power Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday; the Board will conduct required training on Feb. 12, 2026.
