Oneida County staff brief board on ordinance/measurement updates for structures beyond 75 feet of shoreline

During the June 18 meeting, Oneida County Planning and Zoning staff updated the Board of Adjustment on recent changes to zoning statutes and county ordinance provisions.
Director Karl Jennrich explained the board’s appeals process, including the Petition for Writ of Certiorari for judicial review of BOA decisions. Assistant Director Todd Troskey described amendments clarifying how height is measured for structures located more than 75 feet from the ordinary high water mark, and provided additional explanation about measurement points used for determining compliance with shoreland setbacks.
Board members heard the update as part of the agenda’s Old Business item and had no calendar revisions or immediate action requested on the ordinance amendments.
Staff noted the ordinance clarification in the context of pending and potential appeals and recommended that applicants and board members consult the updated language when evaluating future permits or variance requests.
