"The bid is coming back at $2,500 for the base plate and the welding," Brandon said, adding that the contractor reported no overhead on that cost and described it as the welder's charge. Staff noted the contract had a prior "not to exceed" of $30,000 that had been increased to $30,600; Brandon said he had not yet discussed the change with the procurement specialist and did not know whether the commission could act immediately.
Commissioners directed staff to place the change‑order request on next month's agenda and to consult procurement and the city procurement specialist about whether the work could be authorized administratively or requires formal commission/council approval. No vote was taken at the July 9 meeting.
Next steps: staff will follow up with the procurement specialist, include any required documentation in the next meeting packet, and bring an action item for commission consideration.
