Alma council approves airport construction contracts, delays insurance sign-off

The Alma City Council on June 15 approved the construction contracts for Airport Project No. 3-31-0004-014 while delaying approval of the builder's risk insurance documentation until the required paperwork is received.
Council member Tom Moulton moved to approve the construction contract and Joel Wheeler seconded; the motion passed with votes recorded in favor from Moulton, Mahalek, Casper and Wheeler. Earlier in the meeting the council also approved signatures for NDOT Department of Aeronautics Statement #7 and Olsson Invoice Summary #10 related to the airport project.
Council members and city staff stressed that the contract award proceeds but the city will not sign off on insurance documents until the builder supplies the required proof of coverage. City staff indicated the insurance paperwork had not yet been received and will be presented at a future meeting when available.
The council’s action clears the way for contracting to proceed subject to the insurance condition; staff will return documents and updates to the council for formal acceptance of insurance when provided.
