Alma council hears 2024–25 audit; auditor posts report online

Alma — Michael Hoback, CPA with Almquist, Galloway & Maltzahn, presented the city’s 2024–25 annual audit at the May 4 council meeting, reviewed assets and liabilities, department fund balances and noted audit findings.
Hoback summarized cash balances and departmental positions for general, street, gas, water and trash funds, and said the gas department still shows a loss. He also reviewed corrected journal entries and benchmark comparisons to similarly sized cities. "A copy of the Audit is on the city website www.almacity.com," Hoback told the council.
Council members had the audit packet as part of the 2026 council materials. No formal vote was required to receive the presentation; the audit will remain available online for public review.
