Boone County commissioners approve 2026–27 wage package for county employees

The increases approved include: law enforcement deputies will receive a $2.00 per hour base increase effective in the July payroll and an additional $2.00 per hour in January payroll; dispatch staff and the office manager will receive a $1.00 cost-of-living adjustment effective in the January payroll; road employees will receive a $2.00 per hour base increase effective in the July payroll and an additional $1.00 per hour in January payroll, with employees holding a commercial driver’s license receiving a $1.50 increase effective in July; courthouse staff will receive a $2.00 per hour base increase in July and $1.00 in January; the highway superintendent’s pay will increase by $150 per month; boot reimbursement for roads employees will increase to $175 every other year; and cash-in-lieu payments were set at $400 per month for single-employee enrollment and $600 per month for employee-plus coverage.
County department heads attended the discussion and provided input on calculations, including County Clerk Kate Noble; County Attorney Abbey DeBoyes; County Sheriff Denny Johnson; County Treasurer Laurie Krohn; Assessor Dan Lueken; and Road Supervisor Dan Evans. The board’s action formalizes the wage and benefit adjustments discussed during the budget process.
The board did not specify within the meeting transcript any immediate changes to staffing levels or new recurring budget authorizations beyond the approved increases.
