Harrison's City Council voted to approve an ordinance that amends midyear appropriations across several city funds and adopted the city's 2027 tax budget, the council confirmed at its regular meeting.
Councilmember Samuels, reporting from the finance committee, detailed the appropriation package ahead of the vote: roughly $183,000 for capital improvements to the streets building including insulation and a hoist; about $17,000 for a salt truck purchase; a salt-brine equipment purchase funded in part by a grant; approximately $100,000 for design and engineering of Fire Station 58; $50,000 planned for Dry Fork North and South engineering tied to the Dry Fork Overpass project; wastewater repairs on North Hill and State Street estimated at $50,000; and $5,000 earmarked for police training paid from opioid settlement funds. "So a total of about 388,000 on these appropriations," Samuels said.
Mayor moved the ordinance and a second was recorded; the council conducted a roll-call vote and the ordinance carried.
On a separate motion the council adopted a resolution approving the annual tax budget for 2027 and directed submission to the county auditor. The mayor noted a public hearing on the tax budget had already been held earlier in the process.
The approvals are procedural steps that adjust spending authority and set the budgetary framework the city will use when preparing permanent appropriations and working with the county auditor. No additional funding sources beyond those discussed in committee were specified in the meeting record.
The council adjourned after hearing committee reports and community presentations.
