Boone County Board approves tax-exempt correction for City of Albion parcel

The Boone County Board of Equalization voted unanimously June 15 to approve 2025 Tax List Correction No. 502, correcting the tax status of Parcel ID RE4421 after the county assessor determined the property is owned by the City of Albion and should be tax-exempt.
County Assessor Dan Lueken presented the correction, describing it as a clerical error and recommending the board change the parcel’s tax status for tax year 2025. No valuation changes were presented during the discussion.
Chairman Brian J. Yosten moved to approve the correction; Commissioner Matt Niewohner seconded. The roll call vote was Yeas: Brian J. Yosten, Matt Niewohner and Jon Lindgren; Nays: none. The motion carried and the board approved Tax List Correction No. 502 as presented.
Boone County Clerk Kate Noble said the respective property owners will receive notice of the valuation adjustments and may appeal the board’s action within 30 days after mailing of the notice. Noble also stated that a condensed form of the valuation adjustments will be emailed to the Nebraska Department of Revenue, Property Assessment Division, as required for reporting.
The board opened and recessed the session in Albion, Nebraska; Chairman Yosten recessed the board at 10:03 a.m. to reconvene on Friday, June 26, 2026. The meeting record notes that notice of the session was posted on the Boone County website, at the courthouse north entrance, and published in the Albion News/Boone County Tribune and Petersburg Press on June 3 and June 10, 2026.
