The Louisa-Muscatine Community School District board approved a set of contracts, curriculum purchases and fee increases at its June 15 meeting.
Technology and subscriptions: The board approved a five-year renewal for the PowerSchool student database (board reviewed year-by-year pricing) and a three-year renewal of GoGuardian (recommended at $10,241 per year under the three-year agreement). Motion for the PowerSchool five-year agreement was made by Scott Wilson and seconded by Bryce Hoben; the motion passed unanimously. The GoGuardian renewal motion was approved on a motion by Scott Wilson and a second by Jeff Riggan.
Curriculum and instructional materials: The board approved several curriculum purchases for 2026–27, including a junior-high math adoption from Amplify (140 student licenses, 20 textbooks, teacher resources, six-year renewal) for $25,261.60; schoolwide access to Active Classroom (7–12 Social Studies) for six years from Social Studies School Service for $27,582.12; 10 W.W. Norton American History textbooks for $827.01; and high school statistics textbooks and teacher resources from BFW Publishers for $2,529.76. Mr. Corrigan answered questions about the purchases before the board voted to approve them (motion by Stacie Ziegenhorn, second by Scott Wilson).
Facilities and insurance: The board approved a Columbus Concrete bid of $13,464 to install a 34' x 36' concrete dumpster pad (alternative Heuer bid $24,300). The board also approved annual liability insurance renewal for 2026–27 with a premium of $370,703.27—an increase of $28,933.72, or about 8.5% over the prior year.
Fees: Per USDA guidance referenced in the minutes, the board approved modest increases to meal prices and registration fees. Lunch prices for PK–6 and 7–12 students will rise from $3.10 to $3.15; breakfast prices will increase from $2.10 to $2.15; adult lunch will go from $4.95 to $5.00; adult breakfast from $2.20 to $2.25; extra entrée from $2.10 to $2.15; and extra milk from $0.50 to $0.55. Registration fees will increase for K–2 (from $90 to $100) and grades 3–12 (from $100 to $110).
Each of the above motions was recorded with a mover, seconder and a unanimous vote as reflected in the minutes.
