Louisa-Muscatine board approves reduction of two nutrition positions citing budget pressures

The Louisa-Muscatine Community School District board voted unanimously to reduce two nutrition department food-service positions for budgetary reasons.
The reduction affects one position in each building. The minutes identify the positions by name: Savannah McCleary (high school food service) and Star Ibbotson (elementary food service). Nutrition Director Linsey Reimers said, according to the minutes, that she believes the staffing reduction will not impair meeting service obligations in either building.
Board discussion referenced meal counts, full-time-equivalent staffing, and the nutrition fund’s revenues and expenditures as the basis for the recommendation. The motion to approve the reductions and the related individual work agreements was made by Jeff Riggan, seconded by Bryce Hoben, and recorded as unanimously approved.
Earlier in the meeting Reimers also discussed promoting completion of the Free & Reduced application (including using a QR code) and a board suggestion to spend approximately 90% of expected nutrition revenues.
