Old Economy Park pool liner set for completion next week; filling, sanitization could take up to a week

County staff updated commissioners at the July 8 work session on repairs at the Old Economy Park pool and said the contractor expects to complete the liner within about a week.
"I met with Rena Sysh yesterday who's the contractor for the project. They've been on-site for the last three weeks," the department head said, adding that the crew leader, Randy, estimated the liner would be finished "about 6 to 7 days out to next Tuesday or Wednesday." The department head credited in-house concrete work for reducing costs and said staff added steel plates at the sidewalls to connect the liner to the structure.
Staff said the county has been in constant contact with the YMCA and with Rex Graham at the park about next steps. Once the liner work is complete, filling typically takes three to five days and chlorination/stabilization requires roughly 28–48 hours, depending on the filling approach. Commissioners discussed opening for more weekend days in September given the late start to the season, acknowledging lifeguard availability and staffing are factors.
The county previewed resolution #11 on tomorrow's agenda as an amendment related to the pool liner work; the work session did not include a formal vote. No final opening date was set; county staff said they would make a determination once contractor completion is confirmed.
