Winfield council approves fireworks funding, SRO agreement and pool pay increases

At the meeting in council chambers, the council voted to award a $1,500 donation for fireworks and to provide a family pool pass as a CCD button-drawing prize. Brandy Smith moved the funding approval, and Matt Hernandez seconded; the motion carried 3-0 with two members absent.
The council also approved revisions limited to date changes in the school resource officer 28E agreement between the city and Winfield-Mount Union School. Matt Hernandez moved the SRO agreement change; Brandy Smith seconded and the motion carried 3-0.
On personnel matters, the council adopted Resolution 26-2026 to set seasonal pool wages for 2026, including raising pool employee Jill Townsley's hourly rate to $17. The body separately approved a 3% increase for full-time salaries for FYE27 while leaving part-time rates unchanged. Jennifer Lemke moved the wage adjustment for the pool employee; Matt Hernandez seconded and the measures passed 3-0.
