Waldo Utility Board approves 2026 budget and routine financial items; staff reports wastewater effluent within limits

President Travis Thomas called the Waldo Water & Sewer Utility Board to order at 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2025. Trustees Josh Behr, Jerome Hammarlund, Dennis Reinemann and Mike Hintz were present, along with Clerk/Treasurer Lisa Gillette and OIC Bruce Neerhof.
Trustee Dennis Reinemann moved to approve the minutes of the board’s Oct. 13, 2025 meeting; Trustee Josh Behr seconded and the motion carried. The board then heard the October operations and laboratory report. Clerk/Treasurer Lisa Gillette reported that all effluent parameters at the wastewater treatment plant met applicable limits and that an earlier unusual growth in the effluent has subsided. The report noted continuing record-low flows at the plant and stated the flow decreased further after a Highway 57 manhole repair. Staff listed routine maintenance completed or scheduled, including hydrant flushing, sand filter distribution flushing, biofilter cleaning, fine screen service and jar testing for phosphorus removal on Nov. 12.
On financial business, Trustee Dennis Reinemann moved to approve the 2026 utility budget; Trustee Mike Hintz seconded and the motion carried, adopting the budget as presented. Trustee Mike Hintz then moved to approve the October Treasurer’s report; Trustee Jerome Hammarlund seconded and the motion carried. The board approved payment of vouchers 9423–9429 totaling $11,533.21 on a motion by Trustee Dennis Reinemann and second by Trustee Josh Behr. Finally, the board approved writing off an uncollectible balance of $140.34 for account 000-0213-01, which was closed in March 2022, following a motion from Trustee Mike Hintz and second from Trustee Jerome Hammarlund.
No public comments or agenda items were proposed for the next meeting. Trustee Dennis Reinemann moved to adjourn; Trustee Jerome Hammarlund seconded and the meeting was adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
