The Village of Waldo Board of Trustees on Jan. 12 approved several finance and fleet actions. Clerk/Treasurer Lisa Gillette explained that three separate Village savings accounts had earned only $36.58 in interest last year and presented Resolution 2026-02 to pool those accounts with the project account to pursue a higher rate of return while maintaining separate accounting. Trustee Jerome Hammarlund moved approval; Trustee Dennis Reinemann seconded and the motion carried.
DPW Mike Kitzerow described reliability problems with two Village trucks — a dump truck with transmission issues and a rusted box, and another truck with electrical problems and a battery that will not consistently hold a charge. The Board approved Resolution 2026-03 authorizing purchase of one reliable vehicle via Public Surplus or auction sources for an amount up to $60,000, with sale of the two existing trucks planned. Trustee Reinemann moved approval; Trustee Hammarlund seconded and the motion carried.
Because the truck purchase was decided after adoption of the 2026 budget, Clerk Gillette presented Resolution 2026-04 to reallocate $11,968 originally planned for transfer to the Capital Projects Fund and to apply remaining capital outlay funds to the purchase; the Utility will rent the truck from the Village on an annual basis. Trustee Hammarlund moved approval; Trustee Joshua Behr seconded and the motion carried.
Separately, the Board approved paying vouchers #DD1012-DD1037 and #16951-16993 plus online payroll liabilities totaling $476,717.33 on a motion by President Travis Thomas and second by Trustee Dennis Reinemann.
Next steps: procure a replacement truck through public surplus/auction sources, list the two existing trucks for sale, and implement the budget amendment to make funds available. The minutes do not record roll-call tallies for these motions.
