Arnold trustees appoint pro tem and approve $23,491 tire-disposal payment, $75,880 paving authorization

At a special meeting on June 15, 2026, the Village of Arnold Board of Trustees appointed Glen Bowers as Chairman Pro Tem and approved a series of routine municipal expenditures and project steps.
Village Clerk Patricia Lamberty opened the meeting and said Chairman Zach Hagler was absent; Trustee Austin Snyder moved and Trustee Donnell DeLosh seconded the appointment of Glen Bowers, which passed on a roll call vote with all present voting aye. Bowers then noted a current copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room.
Clerk Lamberty reported that Arnold’s Scrap Tire Cleanup Event collected 143.24 tons of tires. The board unanimously approved issuing a check to Resource Management Company, Inc. for $23,491.36 to cover tire disposal costs. The village was awarded a Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grant from the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE); invoices for labor, advertising and hauler costs will be submitted to DWEE for reimbursement.
Trustees also approved purchasing used volleyball net standards from Arnold Public School for $1,250.00; Village Superintendent Eric Holmberg said the Community Center’s existing net will be moved to the sand volleyball court at the Arnold Recreation Area.
On street work, the board authorized Clerk Patricia Lamberty to issue payment of $75,880.00 to Tri State Paving for chip seal and fog seal street improvements once the work is complete. Professional engineers Tom Werblow and Bernie Straetker, joined by Economic Development Director Cheryl Carson and Brad Forrester, presented plans for sidewalk improvements on the 100 block of South Walnut and said affected property owners had been contacted. The board agreed to place consideration of advertising for bids for that sidewalk project on the July 13 agenda.
There were no dissenting votes on the recorded motions. Chairman Pro Tem Bowers declared the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
