The Scott County School Board voted unanimously June 23 to approve cafeteria and school expenditures necessary to close out the 2025–2026 School Operating Fund and to authorize final financial adjustments by the superintendent.
On a motion by board member Rob Hood, seconded by Patricia Edwards, the Board approved closing out the district’s cafeteria and school expenditures for the fiscal year. The motion passed with all members voting aye: David Templeton (chair); Lon "Steve" Sallee (vice chair); Patricia Edwards; William "Bill" Houseright; Rob Hood; and Daniel Meade.
The Board later approved School Operating Fund expenditures totaling $5,319,100.77, which the minutes show left a cash balance of $203,547.87. The minutes state that, once all funding is received by June 30, 2026, Superintendent Jason Smith is authorized to make any necessary adjustments to the expenditure list to close the 2025–2026 School Operating Fund to a zero balance.
The Board’s authorization gives the superintendent delegated authority to reconcile incoming revenues and expenditures before the close of the fiscal year; the minutes do not specify further procedural limits or reporting requirements for those adjustments. The Board did not record any abstentions or votes against the motions.
The Board approved the agenda at the start of the meeting (motion by Vice Chair Lon "Steve" Sallee; second by Daniel Meade) and adjourned at 4:10 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Scott County Career and Technical Center.
