Castle explained that if the town accepts a Sunwise arrangement, Sunwise would bill the town for energy and the town’s Delmarva Power bill would no longer include energy charges (though delivery and other non-Sunwise charges would remain). He also told commissioners the system’s maximum capacity would be about 2 megawatts and that the town’s current usage is roughly 1 megawatt; if town demand grows, contract terms could be negotiated to reflect that change.
Commissioners asked for clarification about the Commercial Operation Date definition, how meter/accounting would work when towns share a field, and whether the contract term is standard; after questions the board deferred any decision and said staff would consider the proposal and return with recommendations at a later meeting.
What’s next: town staff will review the Sunwise materials, confirm contract pricing and adjustment terms and provide a recommendation to the commissioners before any action is taken.
