Board approves Megan Sozzle as Little Miami middle school assistant principal

The Little Miami Local Board of Education voted unanimously to approve Megan Sozzle as the district's new middle school assistant principal.

The superintendent asked the board to approve Sozzle, saying, "I ask for the board's approval of Megan Sozzle as our new middle school assistant principal." The superintendent added that "Megan has been a teacher in Little Miami for the past 12 years." Board members asked clarifying questions about where Sozzle is currently assigned and building administrative structure.

Board members were told Sozzle is already working within the middle school building; the superintendent explained that the middle school covers grades 6 through 8 and that the district typically staffs buildings by grade-span. A board member asked whether a ratio requirement governed assistant principal assignments; the superintendent described staffing: 1 principal and 2 assistant principals at the junior/senior high level and a shared student coordinator position between two buildings, and 1 principal and 1 assistant principal at lower-grade buildings.

The clerk called the vote; the record shows affirmative responses from Missus Horvath, Mister Seibert, Missus Bullock, Mister Wallace and Mister Whitehead, yielding a unanimous approval for the appointment. The superintendent acknowledged the approval and noted the hire will create a teacher opening at the middle school.
