Robbinsville council introduces land‑use and cannabis ordinances, schedules public hearings

The cannabis ordinance, as introduced, opens the possibility of additional retail licenses but does not yet designate zoning locations; councilors said the cannabis advisory committee recommended changes to internal rules and that a separate land‑use ordinance will define where any new dispensaries could locate. "This is just opening up that that could possibly be in the future," a council member said.
A public hearing on a traffic ordinance (amending Chapter 7 to ban parking from Sharon Road toward Abbey Court and Francis Court) produced neighbors’ objections about constrained parking for young families and requests for the township engineer’s traffic report. After hearing residents and noting a traffic‑unit/engineer study exists, the council voted to carry/table the traffic ordinance to the next meeting to allow review of the study and additional public input.
The three introduced ordinances will be the subject of public hearings at the council’s next meeting.
