Klamath County commissioners approve multiple contracts, set hearings and confirm appointment

Klamath County commissioners on May 5 unanimously approved a string of procurement and contract items, set public hearings on a proposed nuisance ordinance and confirmed an appointment to a local district board.
The board approved a quote for a Dell server to support the county’s Harmonee AI project after Information Technology staff presented the item. Matt Severns, Information Technology, presented the quote and Commissioner Minty moved the approval; Commissioner Nichols seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Public Works presented three procurement items that the board approved without recorded opposition. Jeremy Morris, Public Works, requested and secured approval for a quote from GE Forestry and Fire LLC for the Spence Mountain Fuels Reduction Project and a quote from Albina Asphalt for emulsified asphalt and distributor truck services for the 2026 chip seal construction. Morris also presented and obtained approval for a contract with Rocky Mountain Construction for 2026 ACP construction and miscellaneous concrete work.
The board also adopted a resolution setting two public hearing dates for proposed Ordinance 36.09, which seeks changes to Chapter 401.020 of the Klamath County Code concerning nuisance control. Commissioner Minty read the information for the record, moved the resolution and Commissioner Nichols seconded; the motion carried unanimously (recorded as RE2026-026).
In other business, the board appointed Clayton Butler Jr. to the Chiloquin Vector Control District Board following a motion by Commissioner Minty and a second from Commissioner Nichols (OR2026-051). The meeting record notes unanimous approval for each of the votes described.
The meeting also included a brief public comment period in which community members invited residents to Memorial Day events and announced a Bly Mountain clean-up. The board adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
