Counsel and engineer update CDD on Corkscrew Road ownership and community safeguard panel roles

District Counsel Tony Pires and District Engineer Charlie Krebs briefed the board on an ongoing ownership and maintenance-review regarding Corkscrew Road, west of U.S. 41. Mr. Pires said his opinion about ownership has not changed after retrieving documents; the Village of Estero engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and walkways to determine needed repairs, and PSGRC representatives discussed Town Hall concerns focusing on the U.S. 41 intersection and the east side of Corkscrew Road. The engineer confirmed the study will include the west side as well, according to the minutes.
The board also discussed the Pelican Sound Community Safeguard Panel. Mr. Schultz said the CDD will participate: Mr. Keith Merrill will represent the district for Objective 2 (safeguarding the community against natural disasters) and Mr. Robert Twombly for Objective 4 (improving street safety). Mr. Long said an updated Action Plan of seven objectives was emailed to communities and that a Panel meeting is set for December; he will provide a post-meeting update.
Mr. Krebs said the sidewalk inspection report is being finalized and will be presented at the January meeting along with repair estimates; he will begin line-of-sight inspections, per the record.
