River Ridge CDD approves irrigation repairs, drainage update and changes landscape contractor
Summary
The board approved a not-to-exceed $15,000 irrigation change order, heard that the Seaside & Master Drainage Project is expected to start within weeks, and authorized terminating Laz’s Lawn Service and engaging GulfScapes at a proposed $58,500.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs presented a revised scope for the Seaside & Master Drainage Project and said MRI expects work to begin within two to three weeks. Krebs also presented additional irrigation costs from Irrigation Concepts: $4,002.50 to repair damaged wiring and approximately $1,300 each to raise seven to eight irrigation heads.
On a motion by Kurt Blumenthal and seconded by Bob Schultz, the board approved an Irrigation Concepts change order not to exceed $15,000, with all members voting in favor.
Separately, Mrs. Adams recommended terminating the Landscape Service Agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service, Inc. due to poor performance and engaging GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services. The GulfScapes proposal totaled $58,500, roughly $13,000 over the $45,000 budgeted amount. The board approved terminating Laz’s and engaging GulfScapes and authorized management to execute the contract change, with funding to be offset by payments withheld from Laz’s, according to the minutes.
The board asked the engineer to review billing rates on gatehouse and monument projects and to finalize agreements for management execution.
