Residents report persistent drainage and near-flooding at Pinehurst; board directs engineer inspection

At its July 23 meeting, the River Ridge Community Development District heard from resident Shari Perkins about continuing drainage problems a week after a plugged drain: water is overflowing in the triangle monument area and a nearby retention pond is nearly 1 foot above the drain, she said.
"A week after the street drains were plugged, the drainage issues persist; water has been overflowing in the triangle monument area," Perkins told the Board and added that resident Fred Kronke had emailed concerns about a retention pond that appears non-functional.
District Engineer John Baker described the current condition: after the inlet was plugged, "there is no place for the water to go and it is essentially akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe." He said the original issue of one system draining directly into another had been addressed but stressed that additional study is likely needed if flooding instances continue.
A board member asked whether there is video showing water bubbling from the drain; Perkins said she has photographs and will obtain video footage to provide to CDD staff. The Board agreed to direct the District Engineer to view the drainage firsthand and study possible remedies.
Resident Ed Nowak also sought clarification on the northern outflow location of the Pinehurst Greens Drive pipe. District Manager Chuck Adams explained that the pipes run between two houses, across the street and golf course, into a ditch that drains to the River Club and ultimately into the Estero River.
Next steps recorded during the meeting: Perkins will provide photographs/video to CDD staff and the District Engineer will inspect the site and report back. Staff and engineers indicated further study and potential follow-up actions will be scheduled if field observations confirm system impacts or flooding risks.
