District highlights large donation from Extreme Network and strong summer academy attendance

Dr. Somer Prather Smith, the district’s director of engagement and school climate, told the board the district received a substantial donation from Extreme Network of San Jose, coordinated through community contact Blanca and Manuel. The donation included display boards, tables, staff‑room chairs, whiteboards and video conference devices; staff said two additional trailer loads of items were scheduled for delivery and another donation was expected in November.
Dr. Prather Smith said staff covered shipping costs for donated classroom materials that teachers had collected for binational partner schools and described emotional departures when binational teachers returned home. She also reported that the district’s summer academy concluded with very strong attendance and minimal disciplinary incidents, which staff credited to site administrators and the summer team.
The board thanked staff for the work on summer programming and for facilitating the donation and international exchanges. Staff said they will continue to work with community partners to support classroom needs.
