Palmer House Museum requests $4,000 from community for furnace replacement, plans open house and ice cream social

Ellen Bertel, representing the Palmer House Museum and Historical Society of Olde Northfield, told the council the organization will host an Open House on June 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. and an Ice Cream Social on July 12 with the Northfield Center Township Trustees beginning at 4:30 p.m. Bertel said donations received last year paid for window replacement and that the museum now needs roughly $4,000 to replace the furnace and a new door; she emphasized the furnace needs to be operational before Halloween to prevent water-pipe damage.
Bertel said some leftover window funds were reallocated to the furnace project but that an additional $4,000 is needed to cover remaining costs. The Mayor offered to distribute flyers advertising both events.
The council received the request during the remonstrances/public comment portion of the meeting; no formal council action on funding was recorded at the meeting.
