Dadeville proclaims weeklong Semiquincentennial and Lake Martin centennial celebration, announces community 'coin' hunt

The proclamation lauded Lake Martin’s century of local economic and recreational value and encouraged residents, organizations and businesses to participate in commemorative events. Separately discussed earlier in the meeting, a community coin (medallion) program coordinated with local businesses was described: coins (styled like silver dollars with a gold finish) will be hidden in participating businesses June 29–July 1; finders who bring a coin to participating shops will receive a small prize chosen by that business.
The proclamation and the event concept were approved by council without amendment.
