Council authorized purchase of a used truck out of the current (FY26) fire budget; the fire chief described the vehicle as low‑miles and suitable for conversion into a custom unit. Separately, the council agreed to commit to buying a larger tanker-style truck for January 2027; the mayor said the city would reserve the vehicle with a $5,000 down payment now and pay the balance in 2027. The fire chief noted the tanker has a 2,000‑gallon tank and is useful in areas lacking nearby hydrants.
On a separate item, council approved a budget amendment to add $2,200 for adhesive-backed carpet squares to reduce reverberation in the council chamber and improve in‑room and online audio. The mayor said installation arrangements would be made and that he would not personally pay for the work.
All three measures were approved by voice vote during the meeting.
