The Dadeville City Council voted to approve Resolution 26-14, a targeted sales and use tax abatement for manufacturing equipment proposed by a company identified in the meeting packet as a manufacturing applicant.
The mayor told the council the request was limited to abatement of the manufacturing use sales and use tax on equipment the company will put into service. Denise Walls of the development authority was identified as present to answer questions, and the mayor thanked staff and the development authority for a prior work session that helped clarify concerns on both sides.
A councilor asked whether the numbers in the packet were per year; the presenter confirmed that the figures were annual. Councilors characterized the business as a corporate citizen of Dadeville and agreed the abatement applied only to the specified tax, not to other levy types. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The action is limited to the tax category listed in the resolution; no change to other tax rates or broader exemptions was approved at the meeting.
