The Bridgeport Charter Township Board met July 7, 2026, at the Governmental Center and unanimously approved a package of administrative and fiscal measures, including a cemetery ordinance and pricing schedule for 2027, two deficit-elimination resolutions and an authorization to repair the government center’s handicapped parking area before the August 4 primary election.
The board voted 7-0 to approve the Cemetery Ordinance and Pricing for 2027 after a motion by Trustee McFarland, seconded by Trustee Kuznicki. The board also adopted Resolution R26-12 (Refuse Fund Deficit Elimination Plan) and Resolution R26-13 (Internal Service Fund Deficit Elimination Plan) on motions by Trustee Kuznicki, each approved unanimously.
Separately, the board approved a revised lease with Lamar Advertising on a motion by Trustee Kuznicki, seconded by Trustee McFarland; that motion passed by roll call vote 7-0. The board approved accounts payable checks 75244 through 75358 in the total amount of $465,563.37 on a motion by Trustee Placher, seconded by Trustee Schluckebier.
Concern for election access and safety prompted a time-sensitive authorization: on a motion by Clerk Eddie Foxx, seconded by Trustee Placher, the board authorized Township Manager Chris Shannon to spend up to $26,000 to repair asphalt and concrete around the handicapped parking and building entrance at the Governmental Center, with completion required before the Aug. 4 primary election. The motion passed 7-0.
The minutes record that the first reading of Ordinance No. 26-01, governing placement and use of shipping containers, was held and that the text has been posted on the township’s website and published in the Herald News Paper.
Public comment was opened from 6:06 p.m. to 6:24 p.m.; seven members of the public spoke on a range of topics that the minutes summarize only as "several topics." The minutes do not specify the content of those remarks.
The meeting included routine departmental reports. The Fire Department reported 89 calls for service in June (YTD 656) and noted notice of an upcoming grant award from the Fire House Subs Foundation for just under $24,000 to purchase lightweight protective gear; final grant details and a press release were pending. The fire report also noted distribution of newly received smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to a waiting list of more than 50 households.
The board adjourned at 8:02 p.m.
