In the meeting's nonagenda section, Councilman John LeBlanc raised concerns about motorists running the traffic signal at Newell Street and requested increased police presence and "Signal Ahead" warning signs for eastbound and westbound traffic approaching the intersection.
Councilwoman Ambre DeVirgilio asked about the availability of a map showing the city's fiber optic infrastructure. Mayor David McDavid said a map is not currently available but that he will work with the City'Parish to obtain one and will follow up with AT&T, Cox and REV regarding service.
DeVirgilio also asked about the status of a proposed one'acre zoning district resolution; Planning and Zoning Director D'Monda Hill said the item is expected to appear on the July 28, 2026 agenda. Councilwoman Jennifer Landry reported she has a candidate to fill her district vacancy on the ABC Board and asked the clerk to place ABC Board appointments on the next Council agenda; Councilwoman Brandy Westmoreland said she is still seeking a candidate and expects to have one by the next meeting.
Westmoreland raised livestreaming for Planning and Zoning meetings; Mayor McDavid said funding for livestreaming is not currently in the budget.
