The Amityville Board of Trustees on June 22 called a public hearing for July 13 on Introductory Local Law No. 2 of 2026, which would amend §166-4 B of the Village Code to change the term of licenses for storage trailers. The motion to set the hearing passed unanimously.
At the same meeting the Board opened a public hearing on the renewal of a cable franchise agreement with Cablevision Systems Suffolk Corporation. Mayor Michael O’Neill explained the scope of the franchise agreement and invited questions or comments; none were received. The Board then closed that hearing by unanimous vote.
Following the hearings the Board approved three resolutions by unanimous vote: Resolution No. 26-06-22-01 authorizing the Mayor to sign the Verizon Franchise Agreement; Resolution No. 26-06-22-02 authorizing the Mayor to sign the Cablevision Systems Suffolk Corporation Franchise Agreement; and Resolution No. 26-06-22-03 authorizing the Mayor to execute an undertaking to the New York State Department of Transportation to be used by the Village to obtain highway work permits for work within State rights of way. The Board recorded each resolution and the 4–0 votes in the minutes.
No public testimony or written comments relating to the franchise renewals were recorded in the transcript for this meeting. The public hearing on the proposed local law will provide a separate opportunity for comment on July 13.
