At the Aug. 6 Center City Council meeting, property owners described ongoing drainage and erosion problems along the corner of Summit (Schultze/Schultz) Avenue and asked the city to agree to collaborative repairs.
Barry Moe, owner of 330 Summit Ave, and Kyle Johnson, owner of 320 Summit Ave, told the Council they have been working together to address water that runs toward and along the corner of Johnson’s building. They said erosion has damaged sidewalks and that paving their parking lots with an appropriate grade toward Schultz and making adjustments where the pavement meets the city street could help divert the water.
The owners requested that the City be willing to “move forward” with remedial work. Councilmembers discussed the need for estimates, and agreed to review cost bids from Bluhm Construction before committing funds or scheduling work.
The discussion did not include a timeline for repairs, a funding source, nor a formal pledge to pay for construction; those details will depend on the estimates the Council has requested. Council took no formal vote to allocate funds at the meeting but directed staff to return with cost information.
