Center City councilors on Nov. 6 certified the results of the Nov. 5 municipal election and approved a series of administrative and budget actions.
Mayor Jill Behnke announced that Resolution #2024-11-06 certified Jill Behnke as mayor and confirmed Mark Wolcott and Sally Swanson to council seats after a unanimous council vote. Council Member Lloyd Vetter made the motion to approve the canvas; Council Member Ryan Pease seconded it. “Ayes‑5, Nays‑0,” the clerk recorded.
Clerk Dana Miron presented a request‑for‑proposals for city attorney services; council approved posting the RFP on the League of Minnesota Cities website on a unanimous vote. The council also approved Resolution #2024-11-06-B, granting Planning Commission‑recommended variances for 132 Summit Ave to exceed lot coverage and reduce side and rear yard setbacks for an accessory building.
On budget items, the council approved a $400 per pay period stipend for qualified employees to cover health insurance beginning Dec. 1, 2024, to be implemented in payroll. The motion was made by Ryan Pease and seconded by Lloyd Vetter; the vote was recorded as Ayes‑5, Nays‑0.
Arnold Stueber presented preliminary information about a Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation bond renewal. Council moved to proceed with a public hearing and associated resolution on Dec. 3, 2024; the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting also included routine staff reports: Public Works said Minnesota Rural Water Association assisted with hydrant flushing and flagged two hydrants for repair, and the clerk reported delivery of radio heads and meters on backorder.
The council adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
