Superintendent Lloyd Crocker presented the budget recommendation and told the board, “As of today, we are recommending a 3.0% increase.” Chairperson Carol Marcotte said she was “glad to see that we are back to a 3% increase and relieved that we were able to increase the Capital Improvement and Contingency funds over what the last budget proposal had.” Board member Peter Flaherty also expressed relief that the contingency had been increased and that the overall increase was down to 3%.
On a motion by Jerome Plante, seconded by Michelle Violette, the board adopted the 2015–16 budget. The minutes record a unanimous vote.
The board noted next steps and related dates: the regional budget vote is scheduled for May 13, 2015, at the Old Orchard Beach High School cafeteria; a referendum validation vote is scheduled for June 9, 2015. The board is acting as a stand‑alone RSU for the first time and will review each cost center at the regional vote meeting.
