RSU 23 board certifies 2015–16 school budget after validation referendum

The RSU 23 Board of Directors on June 10 voted unanimously to certify the results of the June 9, 2015 budget validation referendum, formally entering the computation and declaration of votes into the district’s records and directing that certified copies be sent to municipal clerks.
Michelle Violette moved to accept the certification language and Jerome Plante seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The board recorded the referendum totals as 353 votes in favor and 125 votes opposed.
Superintendent Lloyd Crocker and the board thanked voters, staff and community members for supporting a budget the district described as fiscally responsible and sufficient to meet K–12 needs. Crocker also noted that several district administrators attended the Future Ready summit and that the district is pledging to enhance classroom technology.
Under the board motion, the computation and declaration of votes dated June 9, 2015 will be entered into RSU 23’s official records and certified copies will be forwarded to municipal clerks within the regional school unit. No further action on the budget certification was reported at the meeting.
