RSU 23 says modular classrooms near completion; Jameson classroom testing shows no mold

RSU 23 administrators told the board on Oct. 13 that newly installed modular classrooms are substantially complete and that recent mold testing at one Jameson classroom found no mold in the sampled areas.
Superintendent Lloyd Crocker said staff moved into the T.I.D.E.S. modular unit over the weekend and the building was awaiting electricity and water connections. The district reported the Loranger modular awaiting technology hookups and smoke alarms before it is complete. District staff member Dick Martin was singled out in the minutes for work on ramps, stairs and a covered walkway connecting modular units. The board also noted additional tree planting at the high school to address neighbors' requests.
The minutes recorded that mold was discovered in one room at Jameson School and that the district hired an outside company to conduct air testing in the classroom and surrounding areas; the test reports indicated no mold in the tested locations.
Facilities committee business was discussed; the committee intends to meet Oct. 26 and will work with Harriman Architects to complete the second phase of a facilities study.
