One person dies after jet-ski crash on Connecticut River; DEEP investigating

A day on the Connecticut River turned tragic after a jet-ski rider was thrown into the water and later died, Fox 61 reported. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) said another boater flagged down a DEEP vessel after the incident; the rider was rescued, taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Nearby boaters described the afternoon as quiet before the crash and urged fellow boaters to wear life jackets and act responsibly on the water. Boater Linda Underhill told the reporter it had been quiet earlier and other boaters urged life-jacket use.
DEEP said it is investigating the incident. The station did not provide the victim's name on-air. Local authorities and DEEP are expected to release more information as the investigation continues.
