Jules Kennett, introduced by Paul Raffello and representing the Cohos Historical Society, asked the Selectboard to consider Stratford's participation in the county's upcoming 250th-anniversary celebration. Kennett said initial plans are exploratory and that funding would come from a grant.
He described possible town features including a music stand near the baseball field at Backstreet Park and a power pole to support bands and vendors for future events. Kennett said the society recently held a fundraising event at the pavilion and believes the site could support a larger celebration aimed at mom-and-pop stores and local crafters rather than major corporations.
The board expressed support for the idea in principle and asked Kennett to return with more definitive plans so the town can consider logistical and promotional support.
