Poseyville marks IDEM closeout for water plant; council approves SRF payments for engineering and tank work

Poseyville officials on Feb. 11 announced the town’s water filtration plant has met state requirements related to nitrate treatment and that the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) issued a closeout letter following four consecutive quarters of approved nitrate tests.
Utility Superintendent Jeremy Farrar told the council the closeout marks a major milestone for a project that began more than two years ago and that the plant is fully operational and in compliance. "The community has good, clean drinking water," Farrar said.
As part of routine SRF (State Revolving Fund) disbursements tied to the project, the council approved a $13,687.00 payment to Midwestern Engineers, Inc. for engineering services and a $23,427.00 payment to G & L Tank Sandblasting and Coatings, LLC for water-tower work, both approved by roll call vote. The council also noted commissioners previously approved $9,700 to repair a communications/antenna tower at the fire station that was discussed as part of water and facilities maintenance.
Utility staff said they will continue to track compliance testing and vendor invoices through the SRF process. No additional SRF disbursements were detailed at the meeting.
