Tamworth Fire/Rescue board approves March minutes, hears operational updates

At its April 2 meeting the Tamworth Fire/Rescue Board of Firewards approved the March 5 minutes and received routine updates from Chief R. Colcord on station repairs, radio and ambulance maintenance, meter installations by Lakes Region Water, and the projected delivery timing for a new engine.
The Tamworth Fire/Rescue Board of Firewards approved the minutes from its March 5, 2026 meeting and heard a series of routine operational updates at a meeting opened by Chairman Jim Bowles at 7:30 p.m. on April 2, 2026.
Chief R. Colcord updated the board on multiple maintenance and code items. He said he will obtain parts to restore power to the side outlets at the Chocorua station and that OME is still waiting on parts to complete maintenance on the Great Hill repeater. Colcord reported he has inspected the ceiling above the rescue office and will procure insulation and materials to complete that repair. He also advised that Lakes Region Water plans to install meters on all services in its system, including the department’s Central Station service, and noted the rescue bay man door has been repaired and now opens, closes and latches properly.
On code and building work, Chief Colcord told the board that planned additions and renovations at 145 Tamworth Road will include placing small fire extinguishers in each apartment and installing emergency lighting in the day room to meet applicable code requirements.
The board discussed an outstanding apparatus issue: a solenoid valve problem that is affecting vehicle 6E1’s air horn. Capt. D. Costello reported the ambulance problem earlier in the meeting had been caused by the inverter/charger having been shut off; he has initiated a monthly drug log and brought records up to date. Costello also said he is arranging to obtain two new or used radio chassis to update Car 1’s radio; the board agreed the chief may approve the purchase.
Chief Colcord provided the latest schedule on the department’s new engine (E3), saying there is no new information since the prior update: delivery is earliest by the end of June 2026 but likely to be several months later.
S. Riley, a member of the Board of Firewards, agreed to help paint station walls. Capt. Costello and FF T. Dutile reported progress on apparatus checklists and on entering the ambulance inventory into the New Hampshire Emergency Services Registry (NHESR); Dutile will assist with the NHESR entry.
Procedural actions at the meeting included a motion by S. Riley to accept the March 5 minutes “as read,” seconded by A. Brown; the motion passed unanimously. A. Brown later moved to adjourn at 8:18 p.m.; S. Riley seconded and the board voted in favor. The meeting was recorded as respectfully submitted by Jim Bowles, Chairman.
