Commission approves planning consultant, backs new zoning-board pay and accepts 911 MOU; supports exploring lake access work

Zoning-board compensation: The commission addressed compensation for citizen and staff members who support the planning and zoning process. After discussion, commissioners approved paying $100 per meeting, attendance-based, to certain non-county employees/volunteers who assist the zoning board, and asked the zoning board to formalize the approach going forward.
9-1-1 memorandum: The commission accepted the county’s memorandum of agreement for the next biennium for 9-1-1 dispatch services. Staff summarized the rate structure: a $2.00 per-line collection, of which $0.50 is dedicated to a radio project and $1.59 is earmarked for state radio services; commissioners approved the MOU and authorized signatures.
Lake access: Commissioners discussed limited public access to Lake Hawaii and other local bays. Game & Fish staff indicated they would partner on a low-water ramp project and take the lead on permitting; commissioners agreed to request support and start conversations with Game & Fish and the Corps of Engineers to put the county on a schedule for potential spring work.
