County staff also discussed gravel gradation and whether crushed material could be obtained locally or would need to be stockpiled to meet PI specifications.
On a motion to accept Williams Excavation’s bid for $740,454.26 and to authorize county officials to sign the construction contract (moved by Speaker 1; second recorded), the commission voted in favor and the motion carried. County staff noted some details remained to be finalized — notably the gravel source and specification — and that staff would bring final contract documents for signatures once those items are clarified.
Why it matters: the project is intended to stabilize and gravel a segment of Cattail Bay Road the county says needs structural improvements. Road staff indicated partial reimbursement from the state is expected for about $300,000, and the work is timed to avoid peak harvest impacts if possible. The commission directed staff to proceed with contract execution once technical specifications are confirmed.
