Greene County issues proclamations honoring Recovery Court graduates, veterans and student‑athletes

The Greene County Commission used its May 18 meeting to present a string of proclamations and recognition certificates to local residents and groups.

Recovery Court graduations: Mayor Kevin C. Morrison and Hamblen County Mayor Chris Cutshaw were listed on joint proclamations recognizing graduates of the 3rd Judicial District Felony Recovery Court. The county recognized Mike Wawerski, Brittany Carpenter, Ronnie Leach and Shane Fasnacht for completing the Recovery Court program and achieving long‑term sobriety.

Skilled nursing and health proclamations: Greene County proclaimed May 10–16 National Skilled Nursing Care Week with the theme "Moments in Bloom," and designated June 9–16 as National Men's Health Week, encouraging preventive care. The county also proclaimed June 2026 as Summer Meals Month to support nutrition access for children during the summer.

Local recognitions: Mayor Morrison presented Certificates of Recognition to student athletes Jordan Swatzell and Kinley McCaslin for regional honors and recognized Cameron Cutshall with a Citizen Hero Award and announced his June enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps. Sgt. Bobby Charles McLain was honored on his retirement for eight years of service as Greene County Veterans Service Officer.
