Queen Creek construction update: Eastmark parking finished, Chrisman work progressing

David Wheeler, the district’s executive director of operations and construction, told the board the Eastmark High School northwest parking lot paving has been completed and crews are set to pour light-column footings the following day; the district expects that parking lot to be finished by the end of July.

Wheeler said the Eastmark locker rooms are on track for completion toward the end of July, with the health department having completed a rough inspection on June 26 and tile installation already under way. On Chrisman High School's front parking, curb and gutter work is 100% complete and AB infill for asphalt compaction is ongoing; Wheeler estimated a completion date of about July 20, 2026, and said additional work approved in June will continue into the school year before the added spaces are turned over for student use.

Wheeler also updated the board on athletic facilities: Chrisman’s HITS academic/PE addition has finished earthwork, utilities and concrete, and crews were installing a steel canopy; the project is SFD-funded and projected to finish in July 2026. Field remediation (aeration and sand leveling) and drain-line work are underway as warranty work by Core Construction; a bleacher expansion at Chrisman was approximately 80% complete with walkways, ramps and guardrails remaining.

Board members asked whether parking would be ready before students arrive; Wheeler said Eastmark would be completed for the start of school and that Chrisman’s main front parking is on track though some secondary work may continue into the fall.

The district continues to coordinate SFD project filings and final inspections for these sites.
