The Temple Planning Board on May 5 opened the process to draft a local floodplain ordinance, agreeing to begin with a template from NHOPD, hold public hearing(s this fall, and present the ordinance to voters in March. The board set an initial review milestone for the June 2 meeting.
Chair Russ Huntley summarized the procedural steps: drafting the ordinance, scheduling public hearings in the fall, and placing the finalized ordinance on the warrant for voter consideration next March. Christine Robidoux said the board can start with NHOPD’s draft ordinance and that she will forward that draft to members in advance of the June 2 meeting for review.
The board did not take a final vote on ordinance text at the May 5 meeting; members set the drafting and review process and scheduled further discussion. Next steps include board review of the NHOPD draft and planning the public hearing schedule for the fall.
