The committee recommended that the Board of Education postpone any formal feedback until more information is available, saying the preliminary findings are not expected to significantly affect the overall project but that further study is needed to confirm next steps.
Board members discussed how the project will proceed procedurally: the Board of Education will recommend educational specifications, the Board of Finance will develop a funding plan, and the Board of Selectmen will decide whether the project advances to a referendum. Members also raised questions about possible alternative sites, including Bruce Park, and probed the potential risks, costs and timeline implications of renovating the existing building, including how student displacement might be handled if a renovation option were pursued.
No formal action was taken on the project itself at the meeting. The session closed with a motion to adjourn by Board Chair Maureen Sattan, seconded by Debra Dudack; the board adjourned at 12:22 p.m. with all members voting in favor. Minutes were recorded as subject to approval at the regular meeting on July 13, 2026.
