Commission rescinds community task force on ARP spending, shifts review to county committees
Summary

The recorded vote was 18 yes, 5 no; dissenters (including Vice Chairman Isaiah Grindstaff and Commissioner Randall Jenkins) objected on grounds that the public and citizen involvement would be reduced and urged a role for community members in reviewing ARP spending.
The approved process routes ARP funding requests first to Health & Welfare Committee for compliance check, then to Financial Management and Budget committees before final commission action. Finance Director Carolyn Watson and committee members will review requests for eligibility under the federal guidance before sending items forward.
What happens next: Committees will review ARP requests under the new process and the commission will receive recommendations from the established committee chain rather than a separate citizen task force.
